2016-17

Extracurricular activities form an integral part of school curriculum. The Scholars’ Home believes in discovering the hidden talents of a child. Therefore, the stress is laid on extracurricular activities, which give expression to the child’s inborn abilities.

Inter-class and Inter-section competitions are held on a regular basis in Dramatics, Music, Elocution (English, Hindi and Punjabi), Quiz, Sports, Essay competitions, Spelling competitions and Exhibitions amongst others. The school conducts distinct events like Annual Functions, Fete, Sports Meet, Talents Show etc to discover and hone the hidden talents among students.

The school has taken a step forward in making the students aware of the environment related problems through its eco friendly activities. The school is a Polythene Free Zone and has a project for Rain Water Harvesting. This apart from being environment friendly helps to fight water crisis.

Career Awareness Program (IX-XII)

A sound advice at the right time is worth a hundred books. The career awareness programme for the students of classes (IX-XII) will stand them in good stead.

Inter School Extempore Competition

In an Inter school extempore Competition organized by Sahodhya Complex Prayaas Sirmour on November 5, 2016 at DAV Paonta. Priyanshu & Ridhima Khanduja   grabbed the trophy as a team in senior category by holding the first position.

Non-Fire Cooking Session

The Students of classes VI to VIII had their Non-Fire Cooking Session on 28.05.16 i.e. on Saturday in the school premises. There was an overwhelming response from the students while cooking variety of dishes like Peas Chat, Bhelpuri, Vegetable Sandwiches, Jaljeera, Ampanna etc.

Personality Development Programme

Personality Development Workshop was conducted on May 4 & 5, 2016 for the classes VI to X regarding the promotion of Communication Skill. Various activities like telephonic conversation, vocabulary building words etc. were taken and all the students participated enthusiastically.

Science & Robotics Workshop (23.04.2016)

Science & Robotics Workshop was organised on April 23, 2016 for the students of classes VI to VIII. The objective of the workshop was to provide hands on experience to the students to understand the concept.

The Environment Day

The Scholars’ Home family once again considering itself to be a responsible body organised some events in collaboration on the environment day. This was also an endeavour to aware the young and aspiring minds towards our moral responsibilities to safeguard and take care of the environment we live in. There were competitions like Poster Making and Slogan Writing which again helped students to enhance their creativity along with better understanding of the importance of the Environment Day.

Anti Tobacco Day (May 31, 2015)

The Scholars’ Home family, as usual leaves no stone unturned for the betterment of society. Keeping this ethos in mind, this School organised some events on June 1, 2015 which were to aware young minds and to inculcate the quality in them to differentiate between right and wrong choices. A skit was performed on the theme of ‘ILL effect of Drug & Alcohol’ so that the young impressible mind can learn make right choices for them. This was really a motivating and learning experience for the upcoming future of our nation.

Mind Smart Workshop (Life Skills)

Five students of The Scholars’ Home Aniket Sharma (X B),Chakshu Khanduja (X A), Apoorva (X A), Hemdeep Singh (X B) & Shivang Singh (XI) went to New Delhi to attend Mind Smart Workshop organised by C.B.S.E. They came back with rich and enhanced personalities to tackle day to day issues.

As knowledge should have no boundaries keeping this notion in mind, The Principal Mrs. Anju Arora made these students to conduct same workshop in the school premises. Compliying to the instructions of the Principal these students organised “Mind Smart Workshop (Life Skills) on their own on 30th of May 2015.

The workshop included many skits to make the concept clear to the upcoming generation and teachers as well on the Topics Bullying its types, cyber bullying, Gender Discrimination, Gender sensitization, Anger management etc. While discussing all these issue their preventive measures were also taken out again in a very practical way. This included curriculum based programs and whole school strategies. There were many inputs given by the Principal.

Creativity, organising, ability and team work which are the watchwords of success were clearly visible in the efforts of students. Principal Mam and all the teaching staff were really impressed by the hard work and organising ability shown by the students.

All in all, the events was a rich learning experience for everyone sitting there, therefore students and teachers took home something that was not there in their personalities after attending this workshop.

The Earth Day

Keeping the Ethos, goal and Mottos in mind The Scholars’ Home family always remain cautious to aware the student community about the responsibilities of young growing intellects towards the society, environment and moreover “The Mother Earth”. Keeping this thing in mind series of programmes were organized on “The Earth Day” i.e., April 22, 2015.The whole event was a kind of awareness for young students.

This was done by giving speeches in the Assembly after that a play was organized for the cause to “Save The Mother Earth” which had an impact on everyone’s mind, that the concept started echoing in everyone present there.

On top of all this there was a competition organized by the school which was keeping in mind that every child is special or unique therefore the event was in different categories which included Poem/ Song Composition, Slogan writing , poster making.

Session 2014-15

Science Fair 2014

A “Science Fair” was conducted at our school on 29th and 30th August 2014. It was organized with a view to encourage and inculcate a scientific temper & spirit amongst students. The students showcased their talents in various activities namely; Do You Know, Interesting Facts, Portrait Making, Collage Making, Poster Making and Model Making. The final round of Science Quiz at Junior and Senior level were also organized. The second day of fair was open for parents also. They visited the school to enjoy and appreciate the exhibits displayed.

Visitors stopped by the exhibits and keenly interacted with students who confidently explained various activities & models that were on display. The students actively participated in all the activities. Skits and Role Plays were also an attraction of the event. At the end of the event the students were awarded prizes and certificates.
