Eco Club

Eco club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the students. The main aim of establishing the Eco Club in school is to create awareness of biodiversity conservation and local environmental issues among school children and to create a clean and green consciousness among students through various innovative methods. The following activities are organized by the club:

Awareness spreading campaigns such as Pollution Control and sensitivity training.
Special assemblies to celebrate Earth Day, Environment Day and Van Mahotsav.
Conduction of Green Olympiads (The GREEN Olympiad is an annual written examination on environment initiated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 1999. The GREEN Olympiad is designed in an innovative manner to test the knowledge of students in the field of environment and in turn create awareness about issues touching their daily lives.)
Celebrating Eco Friendly Diwali. Diwali celebrations are associated with pollution rather than their traditional significance. Here we promote to bring back the true spirit of Diwali.
Action based activities like tree plantation and cleanliness drives in school campus.
Organize awareness programs such as Quiz, Essay, Painting competitions regarding various environmental issues and to educate children.
Other innovative programs on environment issues.

Eco- Friendly Diwali

As a part of Diwali celebrations, the school has taken up a mission to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali. Every year a drive is started ten days in advance to encourage students to stay away from crackers and celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly way. As a part of the drive Special Assemblies are organized where the students are asked to draw Rangoli and light Diyas instead of burning crackers. Class talks are also held to explain the importance of celebrating Diwali without pollution. Other than this a plethora of activities are organized such as Card Making, Poster Making, Article Writing, Skits, Role Plays, Nukkar Natak etc. , as a part of the awareness drive.

The students are gearing up for a different kind of Diwali – from saying “No to fire crackers” to ” cheering up people who are less fortunate”. Even the students are reaching out to the community for spreading awareness. They take out eco-friendly rally and hold interactive sessions with neighbours on alternate ways of celebrating Diwali and make healthy efforts to sensitize the society about ill effects of pollution caused due to burning of fire-crackers. The school reaches out to the parents through children and encourages them to celebrate the festival by lighting Diyas and distributing sweets among poor. For us DIWALI stands for:

D – Donate

I – Ignite Minds

W – Waste not

A – Add Colourful Rangoli

L – Lessen Noise

I – Interact with Society

Swachh Vidyalaya Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

In time with the Gandhi ji’s philosophy of keeping one’s neighbourhood clean and paying homage to his fovourite tenets – “Cleanliness is next to godliness”, Eco- Club of the School has been working tirelessly, through various activities, since its inception, to add up to its contribution to maintain cleanliness and to create environmental awareness among children.

All important days related to environment like Earth Day, Environment Day and Van Mahotsav are celebrated to sensitize the students about their surroundings. The club members have taken various environment friendly activities like tree plantation, cleanliness drive, Eco- Friendly Diwali and many more. In order to inculcate the spirit of hygiene and cleanliness from the very initial years of their schooling itself , various innovative activities have been undertaken by the school such as Assembly Talks , Poster Making, Slogan Writing and so on. The efforts made by the school in maintaining cleanliness gained impetus after the launch of “Swachh Vidyalaya Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” by MHRD

In continuation with the cleanliness drive, the school organized special Assembly Talks with regards to the teaching of Mahatma Gandhi, on cleanliness and hygiene and Poster Making, Article Writing and Slogan Writing Competitions . All students should take the responsibility of keeping their soundings clean as it is the reflection their own behaviour. Keeping this in mind, cleanliness drive was once again organized in classes, Laboratories and Library etc. wherein students cleaned their desks, chairs and the floors. Students thoroughly enjoyed the drive, realized the dignity of labour as well as understood their duty towards the environment.
